□ PPS(Administrator Jong-wook Lee) hosts the 7th Global Public Procurement Marketplace(GPPM2022) between October 25 and November 3, 2022 on-and offline including at InterContinental Seoul COEX.
○ GPPM2022, co-hosted by the Public Procurement Service(PPS), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MOFA) and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA), has hybrid explanatory sessions attended by an ample number of domestic businesses seeking overseas markets, foreign buyers and overseas public purchasers.
□ At the event, 127 Korean companies and foreign purchasing institutions and buyers from 67 businesses in 17 nations(in the Americas, Asia, Africa, etc.) will establish business-wise cooperation and identify mutually beneficial trade opportunities including through one-on-one business meetings.
○ Main areas for business discussions involve quarantine, medicine, disinfection, construction equipment, electronics, IT, machinery, components and so forth.
□ Side events consist of the Procurement Market Advance Explanatory Session for domestic SMEs wishing to join overseas procurement markets, the Innovative Product Technical Explanatory Session where government-designated inventive goods are showcased and a signing ceremony for trade contracts.
○ On the commencement day of GPPM2022(Oct.25), the Procurement Market Advance Explanatory Session will take place. At the event, invited procurement officials from the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP), the US, Peru and Italy will share with audiences their procurement policies and measures for promising products to make inroads into overseas procurement markets.
○ On the 26th of October, five Innovative Products with outstanding technologies and novel properties including a digital door lock and a fire safety storage cabinet will be introduced to foreign buyers from 67 companies at the Innovative Product Technical Explanatory Session.
○ On November 1, eleven companies including KSI, a manufacturer of rolling guard rails to prevent fatal injuries on the road will conclude export contracts worth about USD 5.5million with buyers from Thailand, Australia, etc. at the signing ceremony.
□ PPS Administrator Lee said, “GPPM2022 is a meaningful occasion involving in-person contacts between businesses and procurement officials from home and abroad in three years after the Covid-19 pandemic where more of the overseas trade opportunities could be meticulously explored.”
○ He added, Amid rapidly transforming trade environments, overseas procurement markets could provide new opportunities for businesses. PPS will support promising domestic SMEs to join global procurement markets.”
